Go Down, moshe
Go Down, Moshe is a work-in-progress, wherein Marques explores the intersection of his black and Jewish identities by reinterpreting the Passover story told from a first-person perspective, using negro spirituals, traditional nusach, and the narratives of formerly enslaved people.
Marques began developing the work while a member of the Union for Reform Judaism’s JewV’Nation Fellowship, and is continuing to develop and present the work as a member of the 2018-2019 cohort of LABA: A Laboratory for Jewish Culture at the 14th Street Y.
On Thursday, April 18, 2019, Marques will present an excerpt of Go Down, Moshe at the second LABA Live presentation. Tickets and additional information are available here.
